I was watching trucks on the power block on Spike TV. And Tracy mentiond somthing about a turbo powered by the front diff. WTF??? How does that work? I am really confused on how that would work. He said somthing like no lag though. Any ideas?

I can't remeber which magazine, Hot Rod, Car Craft, Phr but in the last month or two one of them had an article about this very same thing. It was a reprint from the 60's where this guy had developed and marketed a rear that had a turbine/turbo as part of the rear. You swapped out the rearend for the turbine unit and it helped create tons more power. The article said most of the drag cars that they put it on just straight smoked the tires the entire quarter.
It was pretty cool wish I could remeber what mag. it was.

HOLY JESUS

can you imagine going from 0 to 150 in 4 seconds on a go cart, Thats NUTS

Back in the early 70's I saw a rocket exposition at NED. There was a rocket car (looked more like a missle on wheels), a rocket motorcycle and a rocket gocart. The gocart did 175 mph. The announcer joked if the driver had aerodynamic boots on he would have gone 200. It was sick.
I think the rocket car did somewhere in the low 300s. I don't remember how fast the motorcyle was. If I'm not mistaken they used hydrogen peroxide for fuel and it spewed over anyone behind it bleaching their hair. Pretty soon after that they banned rocket vehicles.

Those go-karts were hitting 150 and going air borne. Wonder if the drivers survived? How would you like to pull up next to that bug at a light?
