Does a differential need to set up and the shims changed if the carrier and pinion bearings are changed? I need to change all the bearings in a differential but will reuse the ring, pinion, carrier and spiders. This is the first time anyone has been inside this differential, everything is factory installed. Can I just change the four bearings, reassemble and be on my way?

Yes change bearings and keep the shims the way it is . Simply run a pattern and check backlash.
