dimmer switch???

The bulb in the shifter plate is not lit. Replaced the bulb. Still no light. Should i now replace the dimmer switch?

unless all your dash lights are also out you dont need the dimmer
ith lights on dimmer rolled up just before it clicks is the dash lighting, radio lighting , and heater control lighting on
is the gray wire at front of console that feeds the bulb connected to the gray lamp wire in the dash (should have a 3m skotchlok squeeze connector there)
right where the grey wire from console connects to dash wiring is a black rubbery connector end , thats for the ashtray lamp with non console cars ...plug a bulb in there .. with lights on dimmer rolled up just before it clicks does that bulb work .. if so problem is in the console
are both wires going to the bulb? the wires usually break off right at the terminals that are in the bulb socket
is the ground wire from the bulb clipped to the shifter body?

the ground wire for the console bulb has a clip at the end that just slides on the frame of the shifter to achieve the ground
