Direct Scan - Power down sequence

With this new scan tool hard wired to the ECM I am religiously following the recommended power up sequence, which is:

1. Connect Laptop to DS Cable
   
2. Turn Laptop On
   
3. Start the car
   [/list=1]
   
   At power down I am simply reversing the order.
   
   Is this correct?
   
   Oh yea, I just ordered a parachute from Jegs.....now that I am driving a 900 HP Buick I figure I'm going to need it

Dont worry about it. We have never seen any adverse effects happen from powering down DS incorrectly. You're really just reading data from the bus, bot inputting any commands so you shouldnt worry. In fact, I have never heard of anyone having trouble even with the startup sequence. Hope this helps,

Thank You, that does help. You know, us accountants just can't have too much information

FWIW - I haven't had a single problem with Direct Scan v1.52.

I spent a couple of hours cleaning and polishing the contacts on the ECM circuit board, it fired right up first time and has worked like a charm since.
