im looking at ramchargers web and they have 2 scan masters one for inside the car,which ive seen many times b4 and another one that looks like it hooks up too a lap top,comes with a harness and a floppy.any difference or the same?

Scan Master is a completely contained module that mounts up n the dash and connects to the ALDL. Great for tuning and tuning up the car.
Direct Scan is different. It connects directly to the ECM and your laptop computer, with a module in between... Update rate is up to 18 frames a second, and provides several different choices to view the data...and also you can record and playback such as when racing. Direct Scan is preferred for racing because up the update speed and recording features.
Get both if possible because its hard to have a laptop hooked up all the time when driving around, and Scan Master can always be on the dash or where ever you put the tiny display readout.
