I posted essentially the same info in the main Tech forum, but since URL links do go "bad" over time, I'm including here the actual gas station locations in Calif.
*******

Directory of stations selling Sunoco GT100 gas:

In California, where 100 octane is generally harder to find, apparently the Sunoco gas often sells through Unocal-76 stations. Unocal doesn't have this information on their website.

Unfortunately, none of them are especially close to where I live. :(

yup

they sure do sell race gas. I use to buy c12 there for my small blocks. They did have 100 unleaded, but was very costly, cost more than leaded  there is also a station here in the valley, somewhere in chatsworth, just cant remember where

Apparently this would be the 76 station, I'll check it out!
8300 LINCOLN BLVD, LOS ANGELES, CA 90045
at corner of West 83rd St,
north of LAX airport.
The fuel this 76 Station sells is made by "F&L Racing Fuel" of Long Beach CA. http://www.fandl.com/
I am unfamiliar with the company (but I'm hardly the expert).

The station offers for sale:
"Xtreme 105" , 105 octane Unleaded $7.75/ gal
"SP-1" , 111 octane leaded 7.00/ gal.

station in chastworth one in simi valley

turboelky... the station in chatsworth is around devonshire and victory its an old texaco station that has a pump at the back of the station that use to have 101 trick fuel its an independant station now last time i was by there they still had 100 but that was about 3 months ago

there is a station in Simi Valley another old texaco station on LA Ave one block east of first street they have 100 at the pump last time i got gas there is was 5.90 a gallon use it for my dirt bikes...

I just bought some in Riverside @ the 76 off of the 60

Close to the University out there. Riverside University
I believe it was 55.00 for a 5 gallon of 110 leaded. Woooooo Weee the car loves it.

No thanks those prices scare me, i will stick to being an alcoholic or a meth addictt ;)

I think you might have your streets mixed up, Devonshire and Victory don't cross each other.

That is why I need to finish installing my alky, but the110 was fun, lets just say it was like going on a nice ride or two at Magic Mountain. :D

yes butt

you guys need to understand, alcohol/meth is just a cooling device basically, it is not an alternative fuel, everybody here thinks alky is the way, yeah it will hide detonation, but there is still a risk, if the pump goes out, if the alky runs out, but on race gas, it will always be there no matter what. There is also a measurement of fuel to alky, cubic inch measurement determins what size injectors and how much fuel must be delivered along with the alky, hope your injectors are bigger than 50's.

Race gas is safer, but alky makes more power, or so I have been told.
Race gas lacks the cooling effect, which is worth some hp by itself, not including the fact that alky allows more boost under same and/or similiar conditions, or so I have been told on thast one also. Race gas is failsafe.

well

I dont want to start an arguement over alky, I like to drink it and that is a prooven fact! I'll tell you what Gary, it just seems some people think alky is an alternitave fuel, the fact is, its an additive. Yes there is more power to be made when conditions on the intake temperatures are cooler, but if your intercooler etc. is up to par, and you have good gas, you should be good to go. You your self keeps 100 octane in your tank right? yup, thats right :D

oops.....

my bad.... its desoto and victory or vanowen
i haven't been that way in a while
i get the streets mixed up all the time... good thing i don't live in that area i would always be lost!!!LOL

i know that devonshire and victory go east west.... just didn't have my thinking cap on... thanks for catching me!!!

Yeah, I think Desoto and Vanowen, the corner at Victory is just a big ol bus stop now

Yep, I am addicted to 100 V.P. octane UL like the the need to breathe. But I realize that it is the lazy mans "yellow brick road" to HP, and falls short of the results of a good dialed in combination of alky chip & alky injection. At some particular point of upgrading on my car I am going to dyno the car & then install the alky & an alky chip, & dial it in on a dyno, & then compare results. I suspect that the alky will come out on top of the V.P. 100 octane UL, but not by a landslide.

I like the idea of alky because my GN is my only ride. Yes, I could leave it alone and drive it with the TT 91 octane chip in it and call it good, but then my adult ADD kicks in and I must have more. So "the idea" is to be able to turn up the boost and run it at any time, and not cost me $5 a gallon forgas. Back home meth was less than $2 a gallon, making it an even better deal. Now here, at ~$5 a gallon, it is less of a bargain but still cheaper in the long run.

Of course this is all a moot point with the car having KR issues at 13 psi and the 91 chip, no alky.

Someday maybe I will be able to get it settled down and be able to run with no KR... :frown:

If 100 octane fuel is so superior to alky injection. Explain why Brents stock engine with 150,000 miles is running 7.20's & 95 mph in the 1/8TH on 91 octane & alky? Thats the equivalent to about 11.30's in the 1/4. I'm not going to say that he hasn't paid some dues in the process. But I do believe that all things equal you'll make more H.P.on alky. Once the weather cools & with a little more tuneing & some common sense. A couple more tenths are in the bank.

well

we are all entitled to an opinion and this is mine on this subject. Not that i'm right, maybe i'm wrong but: meth has no octane rating, if it did it would be somewhere around like 150 octane. I'm not just talking about unleaded 100 octane here, but race gas in general. Meth/alky does not make more power, it makes a cooler intake temperature permitting more timing and boost which makes that power you talk about. If you were running 20psi of boost on alky and pump gas running 11 sec passes, and running another car with race gas, lets say 112 leaded, running 11sec passes, neither had any detonation but had the same build, proper tune, where is this mystery super power alky possesses? Like I said, and I believe, it is a cheap additive to pump gas, instead of spending money on real gas. It is more economical yes, but there is no mystery, it is what it is. Hey Lou, do you run alky on that twin turbo small block? just curious. Last time I talked with Archie at gnperformance, His elky is running in the mid 10's with something like 15psi of boost on race gas, no alky. There are a few others around here who dont worship alky, but we all have our prefferences, and maybe one day i'll try alky. But not before some good old fashioned race gas that has proppelled hundreds of thousands of racers down a track safely
