I want to buy a 6 pack of 30# Accel injectors from Summit and just wanted to make sure they fit and work on our cars.

By the way, do all injectors physically fit the same way?

They should fit with no problems...I believe that Accel injectors are basically Bosch units whereas the stock replacement 30# injectors were Lucas. I don't know how the fuel delivery curve compares between the two but that might pose a problem.

My car is basically stock and I would have to get a new chip if I went bigger....or so I have been thinking.

Am I wrong?

Not wrong, but the Accels you are speaking of only push 2lbs/hr more than stockers - not a worthwhile investment. If you want to upgrade, get Blue tops (Ford SC), they are 36lb/hr and can get you in the 12's.

Stock = 28Lbs
Accel = 30Lbs
Blue Tops = 36lbs

Blues are getting a bit hard to find, but all chip programmers are very familiar with them. :D

As I said, the Bosch units may not flow the same fuel delivery curve and you may need a new chip anyway. Before you order the injectors, determine if a a stock chip will work okay with them.

Actually, the other option is the Accel 36 lbs "Yellow Tops". They are the same injector as the Blue Tops and you can get them directly from Nick Micale. They work perfectly along with a Thrasher street chip, or any other bluetop chip for that matter.

I am not really trying to upgrade so much as repair my OEM clogged injectors. They work okay but I figure this is the last hold out component preventing me from getting good mileage. I wouldn't be changing anything if the stock ones were not so old. I have not run out of injector or anything.

Acutally I don't know how to tell when an injector has run out.

In that case - just buy a nice set of used stockers from someone on this board. :D

Another tack

Would I see much improvement in having my injectors cleaned professionally? There is a place nearby I could use. Since I don't need more size maybe cleaning is the answer. I was always under the impression for some reason that the stock injectors were not worth having cleaned.

Contact Chuck Leeper on the board - he cleans/flows them for $80ish. They run great.....I have them in my car.

hi,
i have a set of 30lb green strip injectors which are basically a nice upgrade for the stockers.they are brand new from kirbans.they cost $295 .make me a reasonable offer and they are yours.

thanks,nick

turbotwister,

Thanks for the offer. Since cleaning seems to be pretty cheap I will check into that first. If its a no go I will contact you.
