Do all TTA,s have a lot of play in the drivetrain ?

When I put my car in gear it makes a clunking
sound or if I down shift from overdrive to drive
it makes a clunking sound. It just feels like there
is a lot of play in the drivetrain(transmission/rearend).
I checked my universal joints and they are ok,
I have new poly motor mounts and a new tranny mount,
so I know that's not the problem. Is there any way to
take this play out of there or is this just normal for the
F body ?

every auto fbody I ever owned did that from low mileage (my TTA) to high (my firebird) and in between.

Same here, TTA does it, My 86 TA did it, a 91 ILE did it, Brothers 8 RS did it with old 305 and new ZZ4 with rebuilt Tranny, 89 Iroc Convertible does it, 85 Iroc did it, 86 Z28 did it, and a friends 87 Z does it to..... Gee, do you think we have something for Thirdgens or what
