My car seems to be hanging in the top of the gears for a while before it shifts. As a result it has developed a hesitation right before it finally shifts.

I did the usual reset procedure, and noticed that after I mash the pedal to the floor to set it, the cable is damn near popped all the way out the front of the bracket. My previous GN would still be showing some of the ribs in the line, this one has none showing.

Could this be my problem or something else? Car has 100K on it if that plays a role in that cable being stretched.....

The hesitation is you may be bouncing off the rev limiter..thats a bad thing.

Next is if the shifts under normal driving should be firm. If they're smooth/soft and not crisp, you need more TV pressure. You can increase the pressure by pushing in the retainer clip and moving the cable torwards the firewall thus shortening it one notch at a time. careful too much pressure can hurt the transmission, and if you get to much pressure, normal driving the shifts come in latter and are very hard.

The reset procedure of pushing the cable back and letting it reset by cracking the ratcheting mechanism isnt a good way to set the cable.

May want to do a search under TV cable and see what ya finds..else can post in the tranny section of the board.
