Sounds like a Chevy motor with an aggressive cam. I had a 377 that sounded just like that. I had it rich too for nitrous.

i had a 434 sounded similar i also had a 377 same 400 block great little motors i recall the cam being a 286h or a 292h comp cam..sounded mean then i went roller with a nitrous cam sounded very suttle once i went roller nitrous cam

That's Jason Herron's car from here in B.G. One of the nicest GN's you'll find, I don't know his exact cam specs but I don't remember it being anything too radical but it is a stock block 231.
