Keep seeing these ads for that Mr. Clean Auto Dry car wash sprayer saying you don't have to dry your car off after washing because it has a de-ionizer filter in it so the water drops will not leave spots, so you don't have to dry your car with a towel leaving fine scratches.
Any one know if it works on our black cars very well?

I was interested in that product as well. But after looking at the de-ionizer refills costing $8/pop and giving 10 uses...... I'll dry it in the shade with towels or take a drive around the block instead to get most of the water off.

In concept it looks to be a great product.

I too am interested to know how this product works, as I want to be able to keep my engine compartment clean. As for the exterior, I just use a chamois to dry.

A friend of mine here in CO has one and uses it on a Black MKIV Supra he has. Says it works well!!!

There is a guy down the street from me with a new black Ram and I know he uses it. His truck always looks brand new. Wonder how it would work on a black car with lots of wax on it....

I think we ought to get deionization filters on a group purchase. Then you can do as you please. Funny, I thought about this Mr. Clean carwash over the weekend also. Good topic.

Cost seems a bit high. I'll just wash with no nozzle and sheet the water off for free. Maybe when/if they get cheaper.

A friend of mine w/ a GN has had it a little while and he told me the other night you could piss harder than the filtered rinse water that comes out.
fyi.

Give me a break!!!!!!!!!!

Use a BLOWER!!! Providing you guys have enough wax on your cars ..An i am sure you guys do if you are like me an wan tyour car to look the best all t he time.... If you want the same think as they are charging you for @ the stores AKA Mr Clean spotless wash go buy a filter an put it in line with your hose. all they are doing is catching the calcium an other depostid before it hits the car .. I cannot believe how lazy some people are to go buy this crap. For 1 do yo ureally think just spraying soapy water over your pride an joy is enough. Then take a little stream of water to wash it clean.. These products are for the same lazy ^$%#^^%$ people who go take a brand new car an go hit it with that nasty brush @ the car wash bay "that Billy bob just got thru washing his mud rig off with" an put it on there paint. An then they are like where did all the scratches come from.. So ill stick with the old fashion way 5 gal. bucket an wash mit. I use all Zaino products an they ARE the best!!!!! Spray the car down starting @ the top, more u spray better it is. Then only wash in straight lines no circle action. You are gonna scratch no matter what simply cause of friction but you want that friction to be in straight lines so that its not so apparent. Then use straight water an sheet most of it off the more wax on the clear coat the better. After let it sit for a few. Then come back with the Toro 215 MPH electric blower an watch it fly. Use to use a gas but in different postion gas would leak an thats not cool. For some reason toro is the best. So with using air you are saving on friction which saves on scratches. I know this is off topic , but just wanted to share. sure there will be some that will oppose my thinking , but hey this is AMERICA!!!!

hey some good ideas! that mr.clean unit has one tragic flaw, the air is full of dust and it will still end up on the water spots on your car. water is also still gonna need to be dried off of flat spots like the bumber tops and bottom of the rims. i like using my comprerssor air nozzle to dry the majority then get whats left with a terry cloth.

I worked with a detailer for 10 years and he insisted on soft water for the hose being used. And to my disbelief used a short squegee to remove most of the water. Most cars were buffed after that but a towel dry would be OK. Its amazing the tricks you learn from good detailers. He had a $1000 steam cleaner that cleaned interiors like nothing else.

I've always been told NOT to use an air compressor because it sprays compressor oil on the car. I use a good leaf blower to dry mine.

You should have oil and water filters in line with your compressor. They are pretty cheap and add to the life of your tools. And keep things out of the paint if you spray any or off the paint if you are blowing it dry.

It is also a great way to get the dust off your car....no scratching.

a friend of mine had an online deionazer and it worked exceptionally well, it is a filtration system for the water, it connect in between the hose you are using and it makes the hard water soft as a babies butt, the water just rolls off the car after washing it, i dont remember where he got it from but you guys may look into that and you never have to replace the unit just clean it once in a while, it is worth your $$$.
