Order everything on the menu at a restaurant, but they get a diet coke!:D

Went to this burger place down here (Jack's) and was waiting in line to order and I couldn't help notice the guy in front of me (that was eating by himself) ordered two 1/2lb cheeseburgers, a large fry, and a diet coke.... WTF is the logic in this?? I mean you're basically ordering a heart attack on a plate so why not at least enjoy what you're drinking with it..

Cherry coke with my heart attack!!! LOL

Anybody else see stuff like this??

If you are used to the taste of a diet coke you can not drink a regular coke it tastes like syrup. If you can drink either then he is still saving about 1000 calories if its a big drink.

What he said or if the person has diabetes and they cant tolerate any sugar which any soft drink is full of. If they ordered everything above plus a banana split or something then I couldnt help but laugh a little.

Ha, a friend of mine always busts my chops about ordering a meat sub with extra roast beef and cheese, on a wheat roll :D . In reality though, I like the taste of wheat bread better, and don't give a damn about it's nutritional value. :p

If the guy had diabetes like you said I can understand it, but otherwise it just plain sounds silly to me.... Then again I'm used to the sweet taste of regular coke/cherry and I can't drink diet cause it taste so Fing bitter to me...

The drinks aren't that big so I doubt he was saving 1000 calories, but even if he was I doubt it would matter much with two 1/2lb cheeseburgers and a large fry (never mind the condiments)

Next time I go to get my 18oz steak w/ a loaded bake potato I think I'm gonna ask for a glass of water and light dressing on my salad:D

I'm not too picky about breads, but that's definitely along the lines of what I'm talking about...

I guess everybody has their own preference of what taste good to them, it just sounds funny though when you hear the terms that imply low fat/low calorie thrown in to foods that are indeed high in both... Oxymoron!

if the guy had diabetes he shouldn't have been ingesting that many carbs in two 1/2 pound burgers and a large fry anyway. oh well. another case of darwin in action. more oxygen for me.

If he wasn't overweight, then there might be some medical reasons for HAVING to pack that many cals away, in one sitting.
Not to mention some people have jobs, that cause them to burn off an incredible amount of cals.

Diet Coke has Aspertane (sp), which for some people is quick way to the ER for heart problems.
Could be he just likes the taste of the Diet Coke.

But, then again, there are those with such low self esteem, that are just out to kill themselves, food just being one of the options.

I work at a fast food restuarant, and will have people order all kinds of greasy stuff then want a diet coke, and say that there "on a diet" Which doesnt make any since to me at all. I will tell then "why dont you get something that is baked?" Then they say "no i would rather have the greasy stuff" I just tell myself "didnt you just say your on a diet?"

True but my granny had diabetes and had to eat like a bird 99% of the time so at times she would crave a burger and fries so bad she would give in and order up a meal with a diet drink. According to her it didnt mess with her blood sugar level nearly as bad as if she would have drank a regular coke. I dunno how accurate that was since I was just a young kid and thats what she told me when I questioned her about it (BTW, dont question your granny about her habbits or it WILL get you in hot water).

Other then the points mentioned above, its mostly all a psycological thing. Ordering that diet coke just makes a guy feel better, whether it helps at all or not realistically, is irrelevant.

I drink nothing but Diet Pepsi...not because I am on a diet...but I prefer the taste. Regular soda tastes like syrup to me and Cherry coke would gag a maggot.

To each their own I guess.

I agree with microELVIS, getting that diet coke makes you not feel so bad about eating everything else

If you drink diet coke long enough you lose your taste for regular coke, or at least I did. I've been known to go through Mcdonalds and get 2 dbl cheeseburgers and a large diet coke:) , I really dont see anything wrong with it, everybody has different tastes.

Gotta love that dollar menu! I mix mine up with 1 dbl cheeseburger and 1 McChicken sandwich, diet coke included. :D

I guess we are discussing the reason behind ordering the diet coke, weather it be preference or because of the nutrional value campared to regular coke. The thing that gets me is when someone gets a diet coke thinking that they are gonna offset all pollution in the other things they order, if you get it because its what you prefer (taste wise) then theres definitely nothing wrong with that.

You guys sound like a bunch of chicks.

I never thought I would see a group of grown men that paid any attention to what someone else orders.

Next thing you know Brick will be posting about the color of someone's shoes.

*****I usually don't pay attention until I see a fat person doing it - I can't help it. Dunno why I should care other than the fact that my health insurance premiums keep going up every year, and I have had no claims, keep myself fit, don't smoke, etc.. My insurance person at work tells me it is mostly because of people who smoke, are fat, and are basically incapacitating themselves by eating junk food all of the time, and never exercising - and they don't seem to care.

So, my work has just now started raising premiums on people who smoke, and have other negative lifestyle habits that contribute dramatically to higher premiums that everyone else has to subsidize.

I don't notice the color of folks shoes, but I do notice what they drive. Guess everyone is different in what they notice, and what bugs them.

If you don't like it why read about it and post?? You're the one that sounds like a chick complaining about what I post... Must be that time of the month for you...

Really, i dont think there is anything wrong with us discussing a major problem in the U.S.(obesity) because weather it is us or not it is effecting everyone like MaxVO2 said, and like 86brick said your the one that sounds like the chick, complaining and crap.
