ok, heres the scoop....ive finaly made up my mind on fixing the only rust on my t-type. its a t-top car. and the rust is at the top door hing on both sides. i notice that when i wash the car the water from the t-tops run down the sides of the windshield and end up going down the sides of the firewall(by the door hings). anyway my question to you is, do any of you guys with t-top cars, or reg top cars have any problems with this or have heard of these cars rusting here? is it a big problem? and what will i have to do to fix it?

How rusty is it? Can you lean on the door and flex the metal behind the hinge? If so, you obviously know this will be a sizeable repair (cut and weld). If not, then it's cosmetic and some POR-15 would be a suitable repair. I'd want to loosen the hinge so that the pillar was completely covered (POR behind the hinge as well) if going this route. Once repaired, keep it as clean as possible in there. A little lithium grease in a spray can using the supplied straw should keep it moisture free going forward.

as of right now, its just surface rust......so its flaking. it still is really solid, i just dont want it to get to the point that it will be a costly repair. i was thinking of driving it untill i put it in storage in oct. or nov. and then i would do the body work.
