what is the best way to Drain the Gas Tank.
i want to put race gas in, and get all the old gas out ????
thanks for any input.

You can pump the gas out by using a hose on the end of the fuel rail.

I drove my car until it was almost of out of gas. Then I removed the 'valve' in the end of the fuel rail and connected a hose long enough to go out of the engine bay into a bucket.

The green wire behind the A/C, attached to the black wire from the under hood light, provides the fuel pump with power and will start pumping the fuel into the bucket.

DO NOT slide the black wire all the way on the green connector and lock it as it will need to be disconnected to stop the pump.

Or you can just do it the fun way and use a long clear hose and suck it out. Use I small hose in the end of the bigger one for more suction and so you can have time before you drink your gas. Of course if you lose the siphon effect you'll have to do it again. Remeber to keep the end of the hose below the lowest point of the gas tank. After a couple times you'll be ready to puke and give up and just wait till you run out. I did it when there was about 7 gallons in the tank, I would Never do it again.
Dan's way is more complex, but your chest won't hurt and you won't get sick...wish I would've done it that way:)

Jack up the rear end. Stick a hose down into the tank and get a siphon pump kit from an auto parts store. I have had to drain my tank twice. Once for changing out the fuel and again when I did the Racetronix fuel pump kit. If you get the hose in the right spot you can pretty much suck that baby dry.

I remember someone posted on this site that their friend swallowed a mouth full of race gas when trying to suck it out he asked if this was bad.......hmmm race gas=leaded=you swallowing it=not good at all:rolleyes:

trying to "suck" or siphon gas with your mouth is foolish and is best left for Three Stooges movies or Roadrunner cartoons.

It's a good way to end up in the emergency room.

Pls don't try it, anyone!

It's a luxury, but a few a years ago I was going to install a NOS gas tank. Before installation, I had a 1/2" NPT port/bung welded onto the lowest part of my tank. After pumping out most of the gas via the in-tank pump, removing the drain plug will drain all but a few ounces of the remaining gas.

Ahhhh moonshine :D

The drain is a good way to get much of the sediment / rust out of the tank too.

I use a regular inline fuel pump on most vehicles

Drop the inlet hose into the fuel tank, and the other into a suitable container, hook up power to the pump and walk away. No muss, no fuss. Through the fuel rail is the easiest way on GNs and TRs.
