I am in the process of doing a Head swap on the 84, and I loosened up all the head bolts, and went to pull one of them out, and some coolent came out of the hole....

I thought I had gotton all the coolent out when I pulled the lower rad hose off, but I guessed wrong.

I remember seeing a Drain plug on the 109 block, but is there a drain plug for the 84/85 cars on the block?

If there is no plug then just remove the freeze plugs?

Thanks alot for your help.

Herb, If memory serves here, there is in fact a brass spigot, either right underneath the d/s motor mount or just aft of this position. Failing this discovery...yup a regular screwdriver and hammer will 'ease' out the frost plug of your choice. :)

Thanks....

I will put the car up on the lift and look around near the motor mount.....if not I will just pull the freeze plugs.....

Upon replacing what is the best Freeze plug to go with? Copper?

It's actually brass. They don't contribute to corrosion, always are the cup type [that I've seen] and install ONLY with a pipe/socket/etc that fits the inside diameter snuggly. The steel ones you can put an oversized piece on the lip and whack 'em in...you can't do that with brass at all. Remember to skim coat the edges with 3M Trim adhesive, or alike, prior to installation.
