Drilling Holes in hard parts for 2004r

Is drilling the eight 1/8" holes in the OD steels neccesary? I will be spinning 6500 RPM.

For the 45* .060" hole to be drilled in the direct clutch housing, Does this hole go all the through the housing and out the bottom through the thick metal(or only through the first thinner layer of metal where the frictions are held? Is there a specific location for the hole? does it go through the corner on the inside and out the rounded corner on the outside? I cant tell in the picture

I will drill the lube hole on the front carrier to .125"

I will also drill the existing holes on the front internal carrier to .150 (this is pretty large?) However I wont drill holes in flats that dont have any. Satisfactory?)

And lastly for the .060" bleed hole to be drilled in the low/reverse clutch housing. The picture looks like it is in the outside 90* corner of the housing. Is the location specific? Should it be drilled at an 45* angle?

Any other holes that I should/should not be drilling?

Chris's book doesnt say where those holes go... just in the drum and shows a hard to see picture.

I mean how are you suppose to get a 60 thousandths drill bit thats only a few inches long at a 45* angle in the inside of the direct clutch housing???

The more I read and talk to people it sounds like any of these holes are not really necessary?

Id really like to do the lo/reverse housing tho, cause the books says it will speed up manual 1-2 shifts... but it gives no location at all for the hole.
 
Well I went for it, here's some pics, did I do them right? Im afraid the one for the direct clutch housing not at a steep enough angle

The hole in the drum and support is not difficult to drill.The hole in the support does speed up manual 1/2 shifts and reduce the chance of low clutch apply from crossleaks.In the direct drum it speeds the exhaust of the third clutch on a kickdown when dual feeding.Drill hole in drum at 45 degree angle in the bottom of the drum where the bottom outer edge of the lip seal meets the corner of the drum.Because the lo housing doesnt spin there is no need to drill it on an agle or at the corner,just drill thru.At the corner it may be blocked when installed in the case,defeating the purpose.Front carrier bushing always shows wear.Enlarging the hole supplies it with a larger volume of oil and keeps bushing in check.Holes in the forward hub increases oil flow into the clutch packs to cool the plate surfaces and outside diameters.Speeds ejection of hot oil out of the drum so that cooler oil from cooler circuit can drop clutch pack temperatures.
 
I did, jakeshoe told me they look fine, I also drilled the lube hole for the front carrier, but didnt do any others. Ill check on it being blocked in the case.
