I just had my 84 t-type painted and all new interior and all new rubber molding. window sweeps in and out, door rubber molding and drip rail rubber. All of these items came from Postons..I'm not sure of the brand. The problem I am having is the windows will not go up all the way when the doors are closed. With the doors closed the windows seem to be rubbing the rubber so hard that it prevents the windows from going up. Any ideas on a fix?

thanks Tim

I have a the same problem with my 85GN. I installed new GM window gaskets( GM still has them in stock) and they still leak air. They have stopped the flood at the car wash though!. I personally think that this is a design flaw of our cars. Members-Please chim in and see if there is a way to stop the air leaks? Brad

Although a long shot, but, maybe your rubber might be a little tight (no pun intended). You might want to loosen them up with some petrolium jelly. Not a lot, and rub it in very good, removing the excess. It will foul up the tops of your windows for a while as well.

You might want to try the same thing. Your seals seem to have been in storage a long time and might have shrunk in that time. Open your doors and apply and let it soak in, wiping off the excess after a few minutes. Again it will foul up the tops or your windows for a while.

Do that on all your rubber (no pun intended), and you will find that some of the creaks will disappear. Don't forget the rubber pads under your hood either.

Thanks for the advice Jacks- I will do this when it finally warms up here. Your point on the rubber hood bumpers is an excellent one. Last year my car sounded like the winshield would shatter every time I hit a bump. My mechanic told my to put grease on the center bumper and the noise is gone. Thanks- Brad

Does the silicone spray expand the gaskets? Mine are new from GM but are probably old stock. Thanks-Brad

I've had no ill effects from using it.
Can says it's safe for all surfaces, great for preserving rubber weatherstripping.
