When I purchased this vehicle, the seller said that it shouldnt be driven hard in OD that is should only be for cruising on the fwy and such. I think it was accidently in OD when I made a few passes on the street. Now the trans is slipping pretty bad and the fluid smells pretty burnt, so its time for a rebuild. Would it be because it was in OD?

Do any of you mash it in OD? or is it only for cruising?

Any insight on if this is what hurt it or not would be good. I am hoping that was the reason.

It always seemd to be a little slippy in OD, but I thought that was just because it was OD.

I have a 200-R4 and I punch it in OD. It downs shifts initially then I back off a little on the throttle, wait till it goes in OD and punch it again. It stays in OD after that and I have had no problems so far.

The shift into OD in my tranny is nice and firm with a shift kit in there.
