I recently changed my the shoes on the rear of my 87 TR. The job went ok, but I am having a problem adjusting the driver's side back down so I can fit the drum back on. It looks like the parking brake lever is preventing the pads from being adjusted "in." The parking brake lever won't budge and is about 1/4" inch farther toward the front of the car than the passenger side. The little fork that holds the shoes apart can't reach the actual pad, so I can't adjust it in any more. Is there a way to loosen the parking brake cable? I am thinking it is just stuck. If I can do that, I'll be able to adjust the pads back in.

Also, are there any tips on getting the brakes adjusted evenly?

Thanks in advance for any advice.

btw, that bottom adjuster and spring are gangs of fun to get hooked up.
