Anyone ever have a friend killed by a drunk driver?

I did, LAST NIGHT!

Drunk guy gets on I95n north in Pawtucket RI but going south,the wrong direction, and drives a few miles and hits my friend head on by the Providence place mall and kills my friend. The drunk lived.

I drove by the smoldering wreckage on the way home from work around 2:45 am and had no idea. I got the news this afternoon.

Sorry to hear that. What is weird to is most the times you hear stories like this the drunk always survives. I had a friend that was coming from work watching a vehicle going the wrong way, and little did he know that the guy got into a head on with a buddy and his wife. They survived but they were in rough shape and were in hospital for almost a year.

My condolences....about 10 years ago my 17 year old nephew was riding his bicycle home from football practice and was struck and killed by a drunk driver.

Sorry for your loss. Just reminds me of why it's important to take all of that time to find the DWI's. I just got a 17 yr old 2 weeks ago for his 3rd DWI.... & he kept asking me why I was doing this to him. This was after he almost hit me head on & then jumped in the back seat to pretend he wasn't driving.

A drunk driver killed my Uncle. It turned out to be the guy who lived next door to him and had known him for years. Another drunk hit my grand parents head-on driving the wrong way on a freeway. Seat belts kept them alive.

Sorry to hear.. Alotta drunk drivers will survive bc there intoxicated and dont tense up and have a slow reaction and why the man upstairs spares theres lives instead of the innocent people, I will never understand.. Ive heard this happen many times unfortunatly. He will get his

It's more that they are the ones causing the accident. The person that gets hit usually always comes off worse in an accident. It's them running into someone. They have all of the crush zones in front of them & their velocity. Sober people usually try to avoid the accident which many times makes things worse. From the cop side, there's no love lost when a drunk smokes themselves in a solo accident (you get a lot of your solo fatals from that). Drunks usually don't brake so their front end sits nice & high for whomever they hit. Victim front end is usually very low from heavy breaking.
