I have an 03 4.7 Durango. Just changed oil, oil filter, plugs, and rotated tires. Now the engine light is on. ANybody know a way to check the error without going to a dealership?

A friend with a scan tool would do the trick for the error code ;) Mabye a Superchips package, they will read the codes too.

Look around the engine compt for a wire that might have come loose during your underhood maintainence. Perhaps some sensor hookup came loose. Disconnect the battery to reset the PCM and see if the light comes on again.

Aside from taking it to a trusted garage (non-dealer), that's all I can think of via the keyboard tonight :)

Make sure the gas cap is on tight; Evap codes are very common (P0440). You can turn the key on/off/on/off/on very quickly and it "should" show the code in the gear indicator LED area. If that doesn't work, turn key on/off 20 times (no kidding). Don't do more than 10 at a time because you are priming the fuel pump every time and it can hurt it. Rest for 3-4 minutes between. After 20 key cycles the code will clear if it's just temporary. If not, then stop at Autozone. They have DRB readers and will help you determine the problem code. Cooling fan relays are also common problems, moreso for the a/c condensor fan.

Thanks guys. Came up with a P0113. Air intake circuit high. I left this plug loose. Plugged it in and did the 10 cycle thing and it went away. Thanks a bunch.
