My grandmother used to tell us to put clear nail polish on the bites, said it would relieve the itching. It actually works too, i have no idea how, but it seals the bite and really does relieve itching.
2quik was right about the Skin So Soft, I've not found anything that works better at repelling the little buggers but it feels real greasy and smells.
