Replacing the timing chain this weekend and wondering if the dynagear timing set from autozone is any good?? if not, what can i get locally thatss any good? also is the cam button from advance 7189 as good as the gm 2553288??
dynagear is fine, an offshoot of melling (oil pumps) most parts stores carry them. As far as the cam button if it has the roller cap on the end that's what you want. perfect circle offers it but I don;t remember the part number.
Buy a Cloyes or if you have the extra money a Rollmaster. The Dyna bomb will have a lot of slack in it. The cloyes and rollmaster are made of very good quality metals.
They will all strech. Some more than others. I have used them all. I pulled the cloyes off my street car with just 3k on the clock and it was streched out as far or more as the Rollmaster from my TSM car with 30 k and lots of 10 sec passes.
I went with the Dyna gear. Its going to stretch but at least it was cheap.
