Hi guys: I have a few questions when it comes to doing engine dyno testing.First question; what all will I need?Things I can think of right off hand. ECM-Engine wiring Harness - Maybe small fuel cell with pump to supply fuel- Headers that have bungs installed for egt probes-boost gauge if dyno people don,t have this - probably direct scan etc.- downpipe installed-fuel pressure gauge to check fuel pressure. The motor will have a roller cam; so cam won,t require break in. how much run in time on the dyno before putting the boost to it?Whatever chips you need for testing.Any special treatment for dyno testing turbo motors compared to normal aspirated motors?I need help; as this is a first for me. Thanks Jerry Berger

My engine builder has an engine test stand that he runs motors on if the customer wants him to. For the V6s, he had a one barrel carb laying around and made an adapter for the lower intake. He then uses a distributor and a MSD 6AL2/MSD coil for the ignition part. He uses a pulley on the crank and water pump only. Hooks up a battery charger to the battery to supply voltage to the ignition. V6 normally aspirated headers for the exhaust. The test stand is equipped with an electric fuel pump for the carb. Basically he runs the motors to verify oil pressure, break the motor in if need be and check for any types of leaks.

So why do you want to set your engine on the dyno? If you want to know HP, put the motor in the car and take it to a chassis dyno. If the shop is not set up to do fuel injection, it is going to be PIA. Your headers are going to need bungs for the EGT probes. If you are going to go through this expense, then go with a FAST set up so you can tune the motor more easily than chips unless you can burn chips on the spot.
