I plan on plumbing in a Earls -4 AN oil filter on the oil feed to my 6776BB . I'm going to come right off of the - 4 AN oil restrictor fitting with a female to female -4 AN tube 90 degree fitting with the filter right on the other end of the 90 (towards the front of the car) .and then -4 AN hose/ 2 x 90 degree fittings into the block tee . I figure this way there will be less drain back from the filter keeping the filter horizontal rather on the vertical feed line . and also allowing easy access for cleaning the filter when needed. Good or bad idea ???? should get the filter in 10 days or so in the mail , I'll post a few pics when it's finished

The number shown in the picture is a -6 oil filter.

Looks nice and compact and should work just fine once plumbed in there.

Of course it's a good idea.

How many microns it filter down to?

The -6 and -4 look the same with the -4 being 3.840 in.(overall) long, 2.74 in. diameter with 1.00 in. hex in size . It was the only pic I could find . :) The part number for the -4 is 12-230304 . I think it's 85 Microns , IMO just a good idea to have SOMETHING in there to stop either the restrictor hole from being blocked or the bearing being hit with any large debris .

Okay that sounds good. :)

The only downside to that type of filter is no bypass, not that I see much of any way of plugging one of those up completely.

Good luck with it and the install.

The -6 or -8 might work well for an inlet alky. kit filter.

I plan on "cracking it open" to take a look see each time I do a oil change . IMO some major metal "chickets" would have to hit it hard in order to clog it up . And if that was the case , more than likley you just had a engine melt down and have the sense to shut down the engine right away . :)

Filter idea has been put on the back burner . They want $27 to ship the friggin thing up here . almost the same cost as the filter . crazy !
