Hey guys I bought some brake parts off ebay stuff was pretty much as described but about $40 worth of hardware was missing and not really disclosed.. His ad did include the line "I think I have all the bolts" well he didn't and it was also missing spacers as well. I haven't left feed back yet because I am a little annoyed at this but don't necessarily feel I need to blow him up for it but still not real happy about it.. What are your thoughts.. Thanks Dave

Was there a picture of something you DIDN't get? Was there something in the description specifically that you didn't get?

The words "I think I have all the bolts" to me means

"I KNOW I don't have all the bolts"

JMO on my years of ebay. You got what you paid for, everything in the pictures and the description. You have no leg to stand on. Leave a positive feedback and move on.

contact

Yes I contacted him about it and he said he would look around and see if he could find anything.. That was over a month ago. I wasn't planning on leaving negative feedback but what I should leave maybe neutral or ???????????

Has he left positive feedback for you?

Just leave zero feedback for not getting back to you.

Count this as tuition in the
School of Hard Knocks.

Hate to say it BUT YOU COULD EMAIL HIM PRIOR & ask any questions.. Since you didn't then shame on you.

I would say leaving a NEG is not really what you should do in this case.

Maybe a a NETRUAL would be ok but you will get tagged back.

feedback

I think some of you are missing the point a little here. I know the $ are gone I accept that.

I have no intention of leaving negitive feedback but wonder if neutral feedback was appropriate.. I am not trying to whine about it just figure the next guy that deals with this guy might like to know to ask a few more questions.. I paid a fair price for the items just thought it was BS to have to buy a bunch of hardware.. Littlesixsteve I did ask and he said "I think all the bolts are there" and that was a lie as he had and provided me with complete kit documentation including a list of every part in the kit..

I sent him paypal even before he would get me a total including shipping and then a second payment of $4 and change for the balance of the shipping (I guessed that close).. He really took his time getting back to me and over a week to ship them out.. (again not whining about it just kind of giving details) Don't missunderstand I know I now have an extra $40 into the parts not a real big deal just want to know what the appropriate response is.

He has already left his feedback and couldn't say anything but possitive without totally lying..

So is the consensus to suck it up and if he burns you next time that's ok????????

Just remembered we've actually seen Feedback under the "Positive" heading actually contain less-than-positive statements.

Kind of a stealthy way to insert "Buyer Beware"
info.

What statement do you want to make summing up your experience with the seller? Have you written it out yet?

Very honorable of you to be concerned with future buyers, who could get "surprised & disappointed" in the same costly way as you.

HTH :)

OK then why write him back with your displeasure & ask him for a partial refund.. Say $20.

He could send PPal $$ back to you..

Yeah I have had deals were things were not right & yet still get a POS from someone. the ebay feedback system is a farce.

If you're truly unhappy, then negative feedback is appropriate. If the deal is not as perceived to the best of your ability to ascertain from his communication, then negative feedback is appropriate.

Too many sellers or potential sellers these days have plenty of time and ability to entice but no time or ability to deliver. I'm tired of the half-dead, sick, paraplegic, incarcerated twice-removed aunt of a 3rd cousin who they supposedly spend all their time caring for and they can't finish the transaction timely or as promised. But they can sure deposit your money!

Give 'em hell Dave.

HA LOL! this statment could be true about the Buyers getting payment mailed to you also..

I have heard it all.. My computer died, My dog is sick,
my car doesn't go, I thought I paid you, on & on..

I had this one arrogant snot tell me he went out of town for work
when I did not here from him for weeks. He could have sent a quick email just to let me know. You can send email thru ebay via any browser even if you are visiting someone.

I asked why couldn't his wife send the payment?
His reply she doesn't know how to use computer or email. Yeah right!

I said you could have jotted down my address & payment amount so she could have sent it.

You will not be able to "save" the next buyer. If they are not saavy enough to read through the description, they will not be saavy enough to read the feedback anyway.....

The last item I sold on ebay was one of my color laser printers - it weighed over 100lbs. I made the auction VERY specific as to the location it had to picked up at and that it could NOT be shipped. The guy that won the auction sent me a shipping address. He was then mad because he had to come pick it up. He didn't read the whole description.

This guy did NOT defraud you. You just didn't read what he wrote. You heard "I think I have all the parts" - WHICH ALWAYS MEANS - "I don't have all the parts." - ALWAYS.....

Leave positive feedback and leave a comment to the effect of

"Nice ebayer. Got exactly what I paid for. ALWAYS be sure to verify contents of the auction with this seller!"

That should get your point across.....

At the most, MAYBE he deserves Neutral feedback. Although he made some errors, and you did too (not asking the right questions, assuming things), he has done nothing to deserve negative feedback.

Like tjthorson said, leave positive feedback, noting the defiances. "Good product - somewhat slow shipping, descr. could have been clearer"

Or something to that effect.

Yup! Gets the info across IF anyone takes the time to check Feedback BEFORE bidding.
