Is it possible to use a stock 87 Maf when changing the ecm I have a brand new one or is the translator the only way? Thanks for any help

87 MAF will only work with 87 style ECM and chip. You can use an 85 MAF on an 87 car IF you recalibrate the chip. The MAF's are calibrated differently between hot air and intercooled.

Also, you can use an 87 ECM on a hot-air car, only with a specially prepared 87 chip (using the 85 MAF).

And, you can't use an 85 chip in an 87 ECM, and vice-versa.
