Just finshed my 87 ecm conversion. So i have a ?. I have a scantool and want to know what i configure the car to now. The car is a 85 with a 85 engine but has the 86 chip now. So for year of car do i put 85 or 86 and for 9th digit of vin do i put the 9 for hotair or ? for an 86 i/c car. I used the 85 and 9 as i did stock and the readings all worked fine. used 86 and 9 and got different sensors but some readings were off like rpm for one. then i did 86 and 2 which is what i think is the 9th digit is in the vin for a i/c car and the readings were way off like rpm, injector ms, park/nuetral detect. So any idea which configuration i should use. I would stick with the 85 and 9 but people say that the 86-87 ecm upgrade is suppose to give more info? Thanks
Greg

did you swap the calpack?(the small chip)

Yeah i swapped the calpack and found out i had to use 86 and #7 on the scan tool to represent the year.

Calpak for 84-87 turbo buicks are the same. There were two that were used. One ended in a 503 # and the other 504 if memory serves right. Either one will work. Usually just pull the one out of your 84/85 TR ecm and use that.
The scantool only sees the car through the ECM so your car is now a 86/87 vin 7 car.
