Anyone know what "Quad Driver #1" does in an ECM and what it controls? I got an SES light, code 26 from my Oldsmobile. Car has a nasty stumble at cruising speed and a misfire at idle, but the stumble goes away when the throttle is depressed more than 1/4 way. TPS is new, Cam Sensor & timing chain are new, O2 sensor, ign. wires and spark plugs are relatively new but the car had the problem before they were all replaced.
Once I got the code 26, I figured the ECM was dead, so I replaced it, but the problem is still there. Tried asking on www.lesabret.com but I haven't gotten a response as to what QD#1 controls. Has to be some kind of relay or solenoid, according to the diagnostic manual I was looking at.
Any ECM gurus here know about this?

Thanks much,
Steve :)

Anytime that I've seen that code it has been either the EGR solenoid or the canister purge solenoid, most likely the EGR solenoid, I doubt your car would have a purge solenoid.

Thanks bird. I'll give that a shot. Believe it or not I think it does have the purge solenoid, but that's probably pretty cheap so I may just do 'em both.

This afternoon when I was driving to my nite job the car was doing it's usual stumbling, then all of the sudden it felt like it lost a cylinder, ran real rough and lost all kinds of power. :(

salvage why don't you just PM or e-mail me your address so I can UPS it to you. :p Thing has been sitting in my living room on my new car parts pile (love that bachelor life :D) for over a year now.

Thanks
Steve

I can do that. :)

Don't know a thing about the Oldsmobubble.

Check the wiring on the connectors to those solenoids as well, open or shorted wiring can cause codes too, even if the solenoid is good.

Gotta check that first. Damn EGR solenoid lists at $272!!
Maybe I'll try the purge canister first, it's only $13..

Thanks to both of ya.

Steve
