EGR removal

No longer have emissions testing and want to learn a little about the EGR system on our cars. How do you remove it? What happens when you remove the system? performance? gas mileage? Didn't find anything with a search so any input is greatly appreciated.

on a hot air car, an egr block off plate from a V8 chevy works great.. bolts up perfect

i ran a block off plate on my car for years. if you ever pull the intake just get it welded up

I know that you can do it. The question is really what are the advantages and disadvantages of removing it?

clears up room under the hood and more then likely if you are running aftermarket chip, the EGR aint working anyway..
