EGR valve problem....

The last few days I developed a "bucking" problem around 45mph and up steadily getting worse. I searched the archives and found a post about pulling the vaccum off the EGR. I tryed this and the bucking stopped and the car seems more lively (I think). Would this confirm a bad egr valve or maybe something screwy with the vaccum etc?

To see if the EGR is bad do this. When the engine is at idle, take the hose off the EGR and place a longer hose on the EGR to you can draw some vaccum by sucking on the hose.

If the EGR is working the engine will try to die. Also you can put your fingers under the EGR and push the diaphram up. I don't like to do this because he EGR can get pretty hot.

All the EGR valve does is let exhaust gases back into the intake just behind the TB. I think this is to cool the engine.

The car stumbles at idle when you push on the EGR diaphram. Just dont understand why the bucking stopped when I pulled the vaccum. Any ideas?
