EGT on Hotair

I have the ability to record two cylinders at a time with my new setup. Does anybody know which two cylinders run the leanest on a hotair setup? Or should I just get 4 plugs and experiment on each cylinder? Should I also check the up-pipe before the turbo?

The more places you can check the better.

I'm going with one in the exhaust (in the up-pipe, near the O2 sensor) and another at the compressor's outlet. I want to see how hot the HOT AIR really is.

Cyl. # 1 and cyl. # 2 with # 1 being the leanest.

I assume you monitor egt near the head and not at the up-pipe.
What temps do you shoot for?

I have an EGT gage BUT, it has a short in the tube. Some days it works, some days not. The recommended place is 1.5 in. off the head. I have mine just below where the 3 runners on the drivers side header come together. I can/t help you as to what # to look for. Lots of things to look at when deciding on what #. 1500 for one person may be wrong for another. The most I have ever seen at that location is 1450.

The reason I know # 1 and # 2 cyl run the leanest is from reading plugs, blown gaskets, seized wrist pin and some signs on the bottom of the pistons when torn down.
