Elec antenna...troubles

I don't know how many ppl here have elec atennas but mine has been out since i bought the car. The motor is good but the "cord"sed to pull the antenna down and up is broke. I trided getting a set up from a salvage yard, but I'f I'm lucky to find a regal with this option the same thing has happened to it. Does anyone know where i can find a replacement? I've checked the local auto part dealers and its discontiued on all the companies they carry. I'm about to switch it over to the standard solid black but i think its neat to have a elec one.

GM has a repair kit for them...

Here's a procedure for repairing/replacing the power antenna...

The first one has the part# for the kit to fix the antenna...

And REMEMBER...READ www.gnttype.org ...There is all kinds of info there to troubleshoot and fix problems with your car...This BB isn't the only source of info...Gnttype was there first, actually for 10+ yrs now in one form or another...

electric antenas suck....imo. I yanked mine out, bought a $5 Radio Shack antenna, and it looks sweet. plus i dont hafta worry about it breaking off

Yes they apparently have kits for the power antennas that you should be able to find easy. Also, you might want to check other GM models to see if you can find the whole assembly on them.As Riveria's, cutlasses, even some IROC camaros have them. So if you keep looking, maybe you can pull one off another car, even some of the FWD ones. Also try going to the tubo trader on www.gnttype.org and see if you can track one down. I love the power antennas too. I have one, and have never had problems with it (knock on wood). But if it ever broke, I would also fix it too, I would never convert. They're just too cool HTH man

My friend boaught a replacement from NAPA for under $50.00 for his GN. I will ask him what the part # is and post later.
