Fritz, just saw this thread. I know I already pm'd you from another post, but just to clarify. The $79 isn't really a adapter, it includes a factory looking relay you can mount along side your fuel pump relays, and it includes all the correct length wires with correct terminals, and the easy to follow instructions. If your good with electrical, and have the spare parts laying around that you'll need. Then definetly save your money. otherwise, I think its a fair price, especially since the instructions are very easy to follow. The ramchargers do come with a 2 speed wiring capability, so at first I was kind of aggrivated at why caspers would only offer a one speed setting option, but once I thought about it, I do think I would rather have just the one (high) speed relay rather than the 2 speeds like the 86/87's. I would rather have the fans come on full blast, bring the temps down asap, then shut off. Now if your in 100 degree heat in traffic, I suppose it would be wise to have a higher amperage output alternator vs. the stocker. But thats a easy upgrade too. 2 relays also mean more crap to troubleshoot if you run into problems.
