I'm trying to pass the Ohio emissions test and I wanted to see if you guys had any idea what my problem is. I found the previous test and my hydrocarbons were 135, which passed, and on the last test it said 2000! I haven't changed anything on the car that should have done that! Does anybody have any idea what could do that?

sounds like you're running rich. Check the tailpipes for greyish smoke, tell tale sign. Or it may just be time for a tune up-pcv valve, breather filters, plugs and wires,.etc.

if you want to pass and if they don't test your fuel look into getting some "heet" they have it at alot of gas stations in about a 20 ounce bottle, add that to your gas and you will pass with flying colors.

I don't have any smoke at all, you just smell gas in the exhaust. So far I've changed the PCV valve, (cleaned the)air filter, plugs, and O2 sensor. BTW, that stuff was changed the past couple days, I haven't tested again yet.

guess ill have to try some heat i have failed last three times last time hc's were at 1150 seems like they have gotten higher everytime really sucks cause the car is running great

that heat stuff actually makes my brother's 85 non innercooled GN run better, we haven't researched it at all and he doesn't have a scan master but it makes it noticably faster. Not sure if it has any adverse affects but he's been putting it in his for the past month or so and hasn't had any complaints. it will pass the tests unbelievably easy so be ready to just play it off like it's no surprise, my brother told them he just put new plugs and wires in it and ran the hell out of it on the way there.

Same here. My car runs great, but I haven't been able to drive it because of the emissions!
