So, I know that we have a list of good to great tranny builders that are posted on here from the north, south, east, and west. How ever, I have not seen a list of engine builders that are in the same location like the tranny builders on here. Why is that? You see a few names POP UP in people Sig about who built the engine, but it's like classified info to get a name and number to call. Can we put up a list of engine builder and make is a sticky so new and older members can have a list to call from. Just asking!!!!!!

The list would have to include builders that are not vendors or even members of the site which would not be fair to the vendors that pay to support this site. I don't see this being allowed by the powers that be and for good reason. If someone asked for a certain builders contact info in a thread it is usually allowed, I have done it myself and I have not seen an instance where contact info was removed. But to have a list of engine builders including non-supporting vendors as a sticky...I don't see that happening. Common sense dictates this. See rule # 1 (Rule # 1, Note to self: Don't piss-off Shane )

I wrote the statement to get an answer to my question. I live in NC and I know of only a few places on this forum that build engines. They are all outside the state of NC. No shop is really in driving distance from where I am at. ( I consider 4-6 hours ok) The question wasn't intended to piss of or offend Shane... It was merely a question to see if there were any engine builders closer. I thought this was a forum to ask questions  Shane has one of the baddest stage 2 cars that I have seen on youtube, so I thought he could possibly give me an answer for an engine builder that is closer in driving distance to me so that I won't have to ship it. When it comes down to our vendors on this forum I am thankful and very grateful to them all and I support them all... So I m not trying to knock them or take any $$ out of their pockets.

Again it was just a question!!! I am sure that I am not the only one who wondered about that and I think that others just didn't have the heart to ask.

So far it looks like I'm going to get my engine shipped to Ohio to have it done. It would have been nice to have a place closer to get it done with recommendations from people from this forum but OH WELL

Why not build it yourself? Unless you are having some serious machine work done on it.. Otherwise I would take it to a reputable shop for machining and build it at home myself..

i was just stating the reason that there isn't a list, which is what you asked for. Wasn't trying to be defensive at all, if that is how you took it I apologize. Asking for an engine builder in your area is a little different than asking for an all encompassing list of reliable/respected builders of these engines. I do not know of any in your immediate area, not that they don't exist. In the Northeast you have Cottons, Otto, RPE. In NC you have Shane who should know of someone, GBody, Richard Clark will also know of someone. Hope this helps.

You know what!!!! I should of went to Brain at Gbody from the word go and never posted the question. I was just trying to help out guys that don't know about reliable/respected builders of these engines.

There are engine builders all over the country, for the most part alot are done by guys who have been into these cars for years. I myself build engines and all my machine work is done in different states. Blocks are done in Ohio, cranks in Michigan and heads are done in Texas. Most people who build engines on here do not need to advertise, they just have reputations. The biggest thing is how fast do you want to go, and how much cash you want to spend.
