Engine Problems

Hey all, Looking to buy an 84 T-Type of of a friend, shorty after he got the car he blew the engine and had it replaced with another 3.8L , It has a Haypertech chip , k/n filter, 3" exhaust. Problem is the car is running horribly. and there is a small knocking noise when the car is moving, anything we should look for? Could it be that upgraded chip?

Dont know about the chip man, im a newbie. I would, however, check out the tightness of your torque converter bolts. They can make quite a racket, guy round here thought he had a rod knock and thats all it was.

Down the road i would change that chip and have one made for the car. when did it start to run bad , when you put the chip in, if so what injectors do you have are they stock. You may also look at exhuast leaks and vac leaks they will kill that cars performance more then you would think.


look in to the vac and exhuast leaks, belive me they will make a turbo car run like s----.
