Engine temp ??

Should the engine be brought up to 160 before racing?? That is how I've done it in the past but now I'm wondering if it should be as cool as possible. Stupid question but I want to get it right.

I do, It is mostly for consistantly.

Ive been told its not so much the 160 temp that effects it but making sure your oil pressure is in good shape. As fc227 said, it helps consistancy
