Can anyone tell me where to look for the VIN on a buick V6 engine? It is supposed to be a GN motor not in the original body.

I know these engines are very sought after so I'd like to check the numbers before I buy to see if it could be a GN and make sure it's not stolen.

Any help is appreciated. Thanks.

Thanks.....

This casting number matches, so now I at least know it is a real turbo Buick 86/87. But isn't the VIN stamped on the engine too? I'd like to see if it's from a Grand National and if it has been stolen.

The partial VIN is stamped in small about 10 sized Font on an engine boss vertically.

Drivers side of the car near the tranny mounting second bolt up from the bottom side of the car, into the block.

Need a mirror, bright flashlight and usually a rag with solvent to see it once under the car.

Should match the ID number on the dash plate.

Take a look at the two pictures that crownvic96 posted in that link. The right hand picture, near the very top, you'll see the smooth boss with small numbers stamped into it. There should be the last 6 or so digits of the vin.
