Hi folks,

I decided to use Rustoleum's 2 part epoxy for my garage floor. My garage floor was poured about 6 months and has not seen a drop of oil. I'm planning on cleaning and then etching with diluted muriatic acid. Next, I am going to lay down some baking soda to return the Ph level to normal before cleaning once more and then applying. The Rustoleum kit came with citric acid and the instructions on the kit state not to use muriatic acid but does not say why. Anyone know why not etching is a good idea??

If anyone else has used this or a similar product, let me know how you prepped your cement and what the results were?

Thanks in advance.

Some say that concrete takes yrs to fully cure,,will that have any effect....

I just followed the manufacturer's instructions when I coated my floor. One word of advice, put the epoxy on thick enough. I put it on too thin because I was worrying about running out. I had a lot left over. Now the coating is thin and fairly succeptiple to scratching under heavy use.

Good luck,

Steve.

My advise is prepare to be high as a kite for a couple of hours from the solvents. I stained my garage floor and the fumes were extremely strong even with several fans going. Have fun!

I bought an extra kit just so I can lay it on thick without worrying about running out. RBE17, what did you use?
