Exhaust leak

I figured out I have an exhaust leak because my EGR valve gasket is completely gone... No wonder it had a ticking sound up on the top of the engine.

My question is, can I just block off the EGR, and be OK? I am going to the parts store to get a new gasket.

But if I can just block it off wouldn't that be better so I can avoid this in the future?

If your chip is programmed to eliminate the EGR then, yes, otherwise it's not going to run so good.

That is what I was afraid of. I found a gasket for it, and will just replace the EGR then.

I got a new gasket, installed it, and a few hours later, the gasket is leaking. I took it apart, and it is blown! Anybody have any ideas?

This gasket should solve your problem GBodyParts.com Online , If you manage to blow this one out, I will be impressed . Also make sure that the egr is tight and the surface is flat.
