Exhaust manifold welds

In one of these posts someone was talking about having "beefed up" welds on the exhaust manifolds to prevent leaks and such. What were they talking about. I have my manifolds out right now and want to know how to "beef up" the welds on them to prevent this in the future. Any suggestions will help thanks.

Ive had stockers and ATRs on my car and have had to weld cracks on both , if you dont have any cracks i would leave them alone .
