i have a cotton's 3" single exhaust that came on my car. i never had a problem with it rubbing the driveshaft, but here the past couple of months under hard braking it rubs. LIKE AT THE TRACK, it's embarassing. i had the guy at the ticket booth ( after the return road ) tell me to fix it before i go back out 4 times once. it's loud as h..e...double hockey sticks too. now it's worse, i went over a train track the other morning and it did it lightly, i brake moderately now and it wants to rub. i have two rings on my driveshaft now. one from the muffler and the other from an exhaust clamp that hold the muffler on. what gives? is anyone else having this problem? does anyone have a solution? is it my suspension? oh, with 26" slicks on it it's worse, or any taller tire. the nitto's make the car do it, but the slicks made it worse at the track.

the dam pipe is partly under the driveshaft, are they supposed to be there.

When I look at my exhaust I wonder why this isn't more of a problem. My exhaust, dual muffs, sits really close to the drive shaft. But so far, no rubbing there. BUT: my d/s tail pipe does hit my gas tank from time to time. Really obnoxious thumping results from the merest touch. Guess the tank amplifies it. What I have found, and it may work for you, is that there is enough play in the pipes to just grab them and push them away from the interference. If you can't get them away from your drive shaft that way, then you have to examine of the hang points, loosening then moving each one until you get it perfect. Just when I get my tail pipes where I want them, then my down pipe starts banging on the frame. So I fix that. Then the tail pipes hit again. Repeat endlessly...I HATE EXHAUST WORK!!!!
