A while back I blanked out billet carriers for the 2004r.I abandond the project for a while and am currently exploring /contemplating ratio changes.I would like to know others opinion on possible 2.41 first gear/1.46 second gear as well as 2.24 first gear/1.40 second gear.Remenber these are best suited for cars over 500 horsepower but will offer huge reliability benefits in durabilitydue to reduced rotating speed in the trans and better ets by bringing ratios closer together.Interested in feedback.I will be making something soon.

Id be all over those. Id take at least 2 sets just for myself. This is a huge problem right now with the stock gearing in high hp cars that are running or required to run a 200-4R. There is a bunch to gain in the 330' with a taller/closer ratio gear set. Just about any 10.50 or faster car that is dialed in properly could benefit from these.

Chris
ask Richard Clark his opinions on this subject

2.24 set is smarter I think.what do you think?
Id say absolutely for a hard running hyd cammed car with a good TC. Lot of potential gain. You really need to be able to leave hard and have the power to trap over 125 mph to see some gain. If you are trapping in the high 130's id expect at least a .15 gain and maybe more not to mention the speed differential reduction in the trans which are always worth something. This will help the 1-2 under power a lot because the drum will be spinning a lot slower before the ratio change. Less problems with piston spin out for those who dont modify their pistons. 2.41/1.46 with a 3.23 ring and pinion might be really hot too.

Lonnie Diers has built a stage 2 200r4 for me with a billet 2.57/1.57/1.00/.67 Gear Set which I believe is the same ratio as a Th400. I have not run the car with it yet but hope to squeeze some big MPH with my solid cammed motor, PTC n/l shifting at 6500+ rpm.

The 400 is 2.48 1st.

I am aware of that planetary set. They are coming from a source I am familiar with.Im looking for something more numerically lower than that.

Scott has first gear ratios 2.57-2.48-2.21-2.08-1.9? Dont know the 2nd gear ratios for all of them.

Please forgive me... I have a silly question. What kind of $$ are we talking for a 2.57 set?

Thank you,
Brian

$650 helical $850 for straight cut the others go up from there to over 1K. He has more ratios than listed. We were Working on a 2.03 and 1.87. The projected cost would have been so hi a guy would need a bank loan. Need some one like Chris to do it so someone can afford it.

I really like the ratios used in the TH400... and would go to a similarly geared 200R4 in a heartbeat if I thought it would live as long as the 400.

A 200R4 with TH400 gearing, full reverse manual VB and electric transbrake would be the cats whiskers.

We have a 2004R Reverse manual made from Billet Aluminum and uses the same Transbrake Solenoid and is a pro type release just like our Griner 400 Vbs. We have been kicking rolling it into production for the last 3-4 months. The problem is simply who will buy it? Most of the overdrive stuff customer wants an automatic shift. I am not sure there is a market for it.

With the parts that are available today the 200 can handle way more than most will give it credit. The output shaft Chris makes was a key part to go to the next level. I now believe you could see an 8 second 200.

If you make it lonnie I'll let you use my car to test.
