External fuel unit infront gas tank!

I noticed my car has a external fuel unit infront of the gas tank. I see braided hoses and the external unit. Can anyone explain to me what this may be?

Could be a fuel filter. If it has electrical wire(s) going to it, it's probably a fuel pump.

An easy way to tell is with the engine running. Go to the rear and listen to the unit. If it's making a humming sound it's a pump.

If it's humming and it isn't a pump...it's either "Chucky" or .....
