I'm looking to buy a Trucool 36 row. Need ideas on mounting location since I have a tranny cooler in front of the condenser and I'd like to preserve the original oil cooler lines which don't reach that far... Will I need a fan?

Also, the stock oil line male is 1/2" inverted flare and the female on the oil cooler is 1/2" NPT... will these work together or do I need an adapter?

i dont know if yours is bigger or smaller then mine, but i have mine located behind the front bumper on the passenger side. me and a friend made a bracket so that it mounts on a 40º angle (supposedly that way its the most efficent). i have it so it mounts on the bumper bolts, and on an already existing whole on the radiator support. then the lines i have running next to the battery under the headlights into the cooler. and for keeping the lines, i wanted to preserve mine also, so, my oil cooler came with hose, so i just pushed the fitting back on the stock cooler line, put the new hose over it, added a hose clamp and volia, now i can make the lines as long as i need to

here is some pictures of what i did, to give you an idea, not the best, if you want i can take pictures of it installed tomorrow

I don't know if you are running a front mount ic or not but I recently saw something pretty cool.
The Cutlasses have an extra brace crossing in front of the K member. I think this guy had a front mount--i don't know if there would be enough room with a stock location. But he installed that extra support bracket from the oldsmobile and had his oil cooler mounted on that bracket at about a 35* angle. It looked very good and seemed very functional.
The extra brace is about like the "X" that we have behind the grille.

I mounted an Earls cooler vertically on the pass side behind the KB air dam ( the one with the opening matching the driver side fresh air dam). I had to fashion a mounting & used an 8" fan. I also used # 10 lines with an fittings. I run oil thrugh the Earls cooler & then through the radiator to allow the thermostat to finalize the temperature prior to going to the engine ( if too cold the radiator will raise the oil temperature & if too hot, the radiator will cool it some more without the heat that it would get if no remote cooler. I also mounted my remote oil filters in front of the remote coolers. I also mounted my tranny cooler between the oil cooler & the fan.
The whole setup looks stock, but it was pricey & took many hours to fabricate.
