Now I am getting really mad, I am about to cut a new front tire!! I just got a new set of 295/50R15 for the back of the TR and moved the 245/60R15 to the front and now the front passenger side is rubbing the inner fender lip something fierce. This happens when you go through a dip in the road where the car will squat really hard. The car seems to be very bouncey on the passenger side front, at least moreso than the other three corners. The tires are on 15x7" Draglites with a 3.5" backspacing (same wheel size as stock) and I can't understand why the passenger side is rubbing and driver's side isn't. I installed new shocks and springs last night and I still have the same problem, so you can imagine my frustration. If I don't come up with a solution soon I will cut the sidwall of the tire. Could I have another suspension part broken or another problem, any and all help will be appreciated.

Thanks

Brady,
in my opinion thats a lot of tire for the front of the car. You are probably rubbing on the inner plastic fender which wont cut a tire, but still rub through over time. My car is the same as one side feels more springy than the other. I ran a 15x7 centerline up front with a 225/60 with no rubbing. i suggest a stock size tire like a 215/65. I run 215/70 with my drag wheels(15x3.5) and it used to rub with my old drag springs but wont with the stockers.

Good Luck

tire is really too big (usually 235X60's fit and they are the right diameter).......most TR's don't sit on the frame straight.....measure your clearance on both sides front & rear and you'll see what I mean....there could have been some damage in the past also

I agree with the previous posts and have gone through this already. I run 295/50s on the rear too. I started with 225/60s up front, they fit fine but looked a hair short. I switched to 235/60s and they rubbed once in a while on a hard dip. Tried 245s and they are just too tall. I thought I was going to tear the fender out on a hard dip. 235/60s are the height limit for the front. Copy and paste the link for pics.

Tires?

If the car has alot of miles it could be the rear upper A-arm bushing is cooked and the arm is leaning back and in towards the frame and inner fender...
If the body bushings are orig, then the body and core support are lower than with new bushings..
Been wrecked and that side of the frame is back. Measure the WB...;) ;)

Thanks for all the replies, it gives me a lot of ideas about where to start. I have a friend that has run a 245/60 for quite a while now and is the reason that I am so mad about this. Hey Chuck what is the WB? Would body bushings make that big of a difference? The rear of the car and the driver front of the car are much firmer than the passenger front, could this be a body bushing or control arm? I don't think that it is the control arm because the bushings only have about 15000 miles since I replaced them and I haven't heard them making any noise yet. But that doesn't mean anything though. Thanks again and if you think of anything else just post or drop me an e-mail.

WB??

WB is the wheelbase. Should be 108". BOth should be the same too!!;)
You may want to take it to a hi tech alignment shop that uses the thrust liner to see if all 4 corners are where they should be..
