Fan Shroud Rubbing

Quick question. I bought a new aluminum radiator from mark and the fan shroud has about a 1" gap from the top of the radiator, but it is touching near the bottom of the radiator. Is this ok or do I need some sort of spacer to prevent this contact. When I first started the car I noticed a small amount of smoke coming from right around the contact area and I'm wondering if the radiator is melting the fan shroud?? Any advice is appreciated!

You could put some washers inbetween the fan and rad.

Sounds like you have something mounted wrong to me, doesn't have anything to do with the radiator.

The radiator works great and all the bolts lined up fine. I guess I'll take a closer look then. To clarify, no part of the fan shroud should be touching the radiator right?
