hey guys what is the fastest te-45a pass known and what was there set -up would like to know and know some pros and cons on this turbo.

thanxs randy

My friend Ryan Mosley went 6.31 in the 1/8 with a TE45A. That's about a 9.94 pass in the 1/4. He has a 109 block with aluminum heads front mount and all the other goodies.

Im sure he can chime in. Ryan WAKE up!!!!!!

there are no cons on this turbo......you need a healthy stall converter (3600 or so)

just asking for the "best performance" won't tell you much (too many factors like car weight, combo, location etc)

I was able to make over 600 HP with a TE-45A (10.7@128, 3700 lb car....) with iron heads

Boost is measured at the manifold. So 30psi on a stock motor is~20-24psi on a motor with a ported intake and heads with big valves. What you need to look at is what is the cylinder pressure. A stock motor can handle more boost pressure at the manifold since it has more restriction befrore entering the cylinder. Where as a motor with good flowing heads will let you achieve the same cylinder pressure with less manifold boost/pressure.
I just got done building a motor with PP& big valved heads and at only 10psi it feels like 20psi on the stock motor. I will never see 30psi again without race fuel.

Ahhh Chicken :D

Yes you will... I give it a month or so till you work the bugs out.

Chris Mcdade is right. Ryan Mosley's (hipsi2fly) car is kickin' ass at this moment with a Te45a and belive it or not i think it is a p-trim exaust housing as well. That 6.31 pass was relativly low boost and alot has been done since. There will be a video in the works coming very soon that shows the true potential of what a 45a with a excellent tune on F.A.S.T. (done by Ryan btw) can do...

I've seen it with my own two eyes
 :D

yea, the car has been faster now and the boost is @ 22 w/ no gas 6.13 @114 w/1.37 60 it still has plenty left

maybe u should have come to the track the last 2 weekends instead of laying on your couch!!!!!-car is @ southern customs getting a ,ake over on the paint and body-i will be back out in 3weeks to go a 5.99 biatch!!!!!!!lol

If I see that car go 5.99 I will buy you dinner:D

You better save it for BG so you can make all these non believers......believers;)

MPH is the best indicator of HP ( if your inquiring on this turbos capabilty, this is what you should be looking for ). The TE45a is a top notch turbo--no doubt! I have gone as fast as 130 mph @ 27 psi in the 1/4 w/ my 3,600 GN. Turbo was a P trim w/ a PTE .63. Motor was a girdled/capped 109 w/unported GN 1's and stock headers. ECM was modded w/ an Armstrong chip. HTH, Brian

I am running a te45a with a few bolt-ons on my 87 GN.............The turbo is awesome!!!!
My modifications are:

ATR headers and crossover pipe
Terry Houston 3” down pipe
ACCUFAB 70mm Throttle Body
50 lb MSD injectors
Kenne Bell 70mm upper plenum w/ power plate
3” Chevy Caprice MAF
Translator plus with extender chip
Mark Hueffman cold air kit
17 Row Stretched intercooler w/2 1/2 inch neck
Mark Hueffman 3” up pipe
160 degree thermostat
My tunning tool is a Scanmaster 2.1

I am currently installing a SMC Alcohol injection kit
New Z28 valve springs, valve job, and heads surfaced
(Because I blew 2 head gaskets)

Things to do next week are to install my Walbro 340 fuel pump and hot wire kit
And the week after that install my 3400 RPM stall torque converter and
Art Carr Deep Transmission pan and Art Carr transmission cooler

Any tips on tuning this bad boy!!!! That is, what adjustments should I make to the Translator?

Don’t you love these cars??

Thanks guys!!

Woody
PS Don’t get the car bug ‘cuz there is no cure for it! I have had it all my life (62 years young in July!!)

Thanks!
