Changing out my rotted rubber door seals I've noticed a nice layer of rust at the bottom of the doors. It's pretty nasty in spots but there are no holes. Before I install the new seals is there anything I can do to fix this problem? My GN was a northern car and probably a daily driver most of its early life but now it's garaged and very rarely sees rain (then only by accident).

The doors rust from inside out, so it depends on how bad they are if you can save them. You might be able to sand blast the bottom edge, reseam seal them and paint them for a temp fix. The biggest thing to look at is the rubber strip at the top of the door against the door glass, these dry rot and crack leaking water into the door. Be careful not to get sand in the regulator and tracks, not fun to get out, so dissasembly is recommended before sandblasting. Then you can sandblast the inside and coat it also at the bottom also.

Thanks
Bill

Yeah, it looks like I will ultimately have to replace the doors if I want it to be rust free. I think I can clean it up and live with it for a while though. Thanks for the info guys.
